Uppsala University, Department of Pharmacy

Are you interested in working with academic drug discovery projects in Sweden, with the support of competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favourable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a researcher in bioanalysis and pharmacokinetics at Uppsala University.

Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) is a collaboration between universities in Sweden and is a national center in life sciences with a focus on health and environmental research. As part of this initiative, the national platform for academic drug discovery was established within SciLifeLab - SciLifeLab Drug Discovery & Development Platform (SciLifeLab DDD).

ADME of Therapeutics (ADMEoT) (Uppsala University Drug Optimization and Pharmaceutical Profiling-UDOPP) is a unit at the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University and is also affiliated with SciLifeLab DDD. The unit's main task is to perform in vitro ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion) and pharmacokinetic (PK) investigations and profiling of drug substances during the so-called lead generation/optimization phase in collaboration with academic research groups. The facility also offers services in bioanalysis using the LC-MS/MS technique.

The Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University, is now looking for a researcher in bioanalysis and pharmacokinetics who will contribute to pharmaceutical research projects within SciLifeLab DDD. The position will be located at SciLifeLab DDD, ADMEoT unit at the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. More information about the department and the research groups can be found at Department of Pharmacy.

Duties
The purpose of the position is to provide pharmacokinetics expertise and contribute to the academic drug research projects within SciLifeLab DDD.

The selected candidate will be responsible for sample preparation and quantitative analysis of in vitro and in vivo samples of small molecules and therapeutic proteins using LC-MS/MS technology.

As a PK researcher, you will be responsible for the design of in vivo pharmacokinetic studies within SciLifeLab DDD projects and communicate with the respective project team. The selected candidate will perform pharmacokinetic analysis, and also interpretation as well as reporting of exposure data to support the projects.

The selected candidate will implement pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) methodology early in drug development if needed to support translational research through prediction of exposure in animals and clinical studies.

The researcher will be a member of the respective project's multidisciplinary team (including chemists, biologists, pharmacologists and toxicologists) to meet project objectives and timelines.

Requirements
The candidate should have a PhD in pharmacy or pharmaceutical science with a focus on pharmacokinetics and bioanalysis using LC-MS/MS technology. Practical experience in pharmacokinetic analysis, interpretation and conclusion of pharmacokinetic studies is required. Previous experience in LC-MS/MS and analysis of drug candidates in biological matrices (plasma, urine and tissues) is essential.
