The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences is a department within the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University. The department currently has about 200 employees, with an additional 150 researchers affiliated with the department. The department consists of 10 research groups, and education is conducted at all levels. You can read more about us here.

The research team CHAP - Child Health and Parenting, is a multidisciplinary group with a primary focus on evaluations within public health; interventions, methods of working or interaction models that focus on public health improvement, especially among children and parents. Research is carried out in projects and often in collaboration with other universities, municipalities, county councils and NGOs, for it to be rooted in society and of use to the public. The group consists of 30 people with a background in psychology, public health, medicine, sociology, health economics, statistics, etc.

Duties
The research team CHAP, Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, is looking for a PhD student in medical sciences - health economics, to work with projects within the area “Health economic analyses of interventions to promote child and adolescents’ mental health and wellbeing”.

The PhD position requires knowledge in medicine, health economics, public health, epidemiology and statistics. The tasks include health economic analyses using clinical trial data, observational studies using survey and register data, and systematic literature reviews.

Requirements
For admission to the PhD Program, the applicant must have completed at least 240 ECTS-credits of coursework (four years of full-time studies), including at least 60 ECTS-credits at the advanced (master) level (one year of full-time studies), or have acquired the equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad. Medical competence and a Master degree in health economics, as well as previous experience of working with research projects is required. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.

Additional qualifications
Previous experience of systematic literature review and evaluation methodology is desirable. Basic knowledge of Swedish is desirable.

Rules governing PhD students are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5, §§ 1-7 and in Uppsala University's rules and guidelines.

The application should include a CV and a cover letter describing previous research experience and motivation to pursuing a PhD education.  A copy of degrees, relevant publications/thesis, and other relevant documents should also be enclosed.

The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 7. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 August 2024 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
