The department has approximately 100 employees and has its research and education both at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala and at Campus Gotland. This position will be located at the division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment in Uppsala. For more information, see the web of the department.

The Division Civil Engineering and Built Environment conducts research and education in the field of construction with a focus on energy in buildings and the built environment. We provide courses in building physics, building design, energy efficiency in buildings, energy systems for buildings and infrastructure systems. Project Description
In order to be able to create sharp and sustainable requirements for buildings that can be followed up, increased knowledge and improved data collection about buildings' actual use and performance is needed. In the project of which this position is a part, we will investigate how an advanced digital twin of a building with real-time collection of large amounts of data and physical building simulation can contribute to this.

Duties
Collection, handling and processing of technical building data. Development of probabilistic and/or machine learning-based models for simulating occupancy patterns in buildings with high time resolution. Development of BIM models and models for energy simulation of buildings. Scientific reporting and publication. The work is carried out as part of a Vinnova-funded research project together with the Building Department at Uppsala University and Akademiska Hus, which means that collaboration and coordination are part of the position. Teaching within courses in construction engineering and/or energy systems can be included in the position with a maximum of 20%.

Requirements
PhD degree in construction engineering, energy technology, or equivalent, or a foreign degree equivalent to this. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Other requirements are good knowledge of programming, e.g. in Python, and collaborative skills.

Additional qualifications
Experience with BIM and/or energy simulation of buildings. Knowledge of machine learning and/or development of probabilistic models.
