Duties
The Erken Laboratory organizes Water days for school classes from pre-school to secondary school level, which have the aim to give students the possibility to gain knowledge about concepts and methods in biology (focusing on ecology), as well as the scientific approach, in both theory in practice. This includes the planning, implementation, data analyses and discussion of results from field observations or experiments. Specifically, the working duties include supervision of students during field work and subsequent sample and data analysis, giving introductory presentations, leading discussion seminars and preparatory work. Other tasks related to work at the field station can also be part of the position.

Requirements
High school degree with focus on natural Sciences or equivalent (e.g. basic Science year) and University courses focusing on biology or related disciplines. Interest in pedagogical and outreach activities. As a person you are open-minded, structured, organized, enthusiastic and flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a team. You must have good knowledge of spoken as well as written English.

Additional qualifications
Higher education degree (BS/MSc) in biology or related disciplines. Documented knowledge of limnology/aquatic ecology and species identification of e.g., plankton or benthic invertebrates. Experience with field work, particularly in lakes. Previous experience in working with children and teenagers, especially outdoor teaching activities. Experience with leading groups. Good knowledge of spoken as well as written Swedish. Driving licence.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, available until 2023-10-15. Scope of employment 75 %. Starting date 2023-08-21 or as agreed. Accommodation is available at the station if needed. Placement: Erken Laboratory, outside Norrtälje
