The position is placed at the Department of ALM (Archival Studies, Information Studies, and Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies) within the project Quantifying Culture: AI and Heritage Collections financed by the Wallenberg Autonomous Systems in Humanities and Society Research Programme (WASP-HS). The researcher is responsible for a sub-project that investigates, reviews, and develops methods and protocols for AI within the heritage sector focusing on Swedish case studies.
Principal duties
The researcher is mainly supposed to be engaged in research in this project. The researcher is expected to compile and present research results for colleagues, publish in relevant scholarly journals and to present research results at international conferences. The employed research fellow is expected to plan, initiate, conduct and develop independently goal-oriented empirical research in an interdisciplinary research environment. Certain administrative duties associated with the project and supervision of students are also possible. The researcher is expected to actively participate in the work of the project, contribute to the development of the collaborative research environment within the project and also at the Department of ALM as a whole for a maximum of 20%
Requirements
To be eligible for employment you must have completed a PhD in one of the following: heritage studies and museology, information studies, information systems science, human computer interaction, archival science, digital humanities, history of science; or another, for example, humanities, social sciences or technical discipline relevant to the work duties. The candidate is expected to demonstrate very good skills in English and Swedish, both written and oral.
Additional qualifications
Special weight will be attached to the applicant’s research expertise, and administrative skills will also be taken into consideration. In the evaluation of research expertise, the most important factor is quality.
Further qualifications useful for the position
Relevant documented practical or scholarly experience relating to archival science, heritage and museology studies, data or heritage data, organisation, archiving and curation or management of heritage data is an advantage. Also experience relating to AI and or automated information practices as well as professional experience in the heritage sector is considered an advantage as is experience of the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
