Uppsala University, Department of Materials Science and Engineering

The Division of Microsystems Technology (MST) is part of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Uppsala University. Researchers at MST have extensive experience in materials science, mechanics and manufacturing of microsystems, where we develop sensors, actuators and microfluidics. We have a larger research group that specializes in soft and stretchable microsystems. The applications are mainly in medical technology.

Duties
Research and development of digital techniques for miniaturized soft and stretchable microsystems with special focus on systems using metals and alloys that are liquid at room temperature, i.e., liquid alloys. The tasks also include applying for external grants, publishing scientific articles and supervising students in projects related to the research questions. Participation in other teaching may also occur.

Qualifications required
PhD in materials science or microsystems engineering, or equivalent. We require solid experimental knowledge and experience in heterogeneous stretchable microsystems with liquid alloys.

We require good oral and written skills in English.

Additional qualifications
It is highly meritorious to have experience in research and development of digital techniques for miniaturized soft and stretchable microsystems with special focus on systems using liquid alloys.

We attach great importance to your personal qualities such as the ability to lead and run projects. You should be determined and structured and able to work effectively both individually and in a group.
