Uppsala University, Department of Surgical Sciences

The Department of Surgical Sciences (IKV) is part of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy. IKV has about 160 employees and 200 registered doctoral (third cycle) students, the majority of which are clinically active doctors and nurses. The yearly turnover is SEK 152 million. Research is conducted at the department, as well as teaching in the first, second and third cycles. Teaching is, among other areas, conducted within the education programmes for doctors, nurses and specialty nurses. Research is conducted in research groups mostly organised according to surgical specialties and closely aligned subject areas, such as anaesthesia and intensive care and radiology. There are also preclinical research groups, which this particular position is within. A great deal of research is conducted in cooperation between separate research groups within IKV and other departments at Uppsala University, as well as other universities in Sweden and the rest of the world. Many of the department's employees have combined positions at the University Hospital.

Duties
As research assistent you will work with and develop a project using biostatistic data of mental health, addiction/abuse and personal qualities and relationships in SALVE cohorts and UK biobank. You will also work with scientific presentation of results and conclusions from the studies in scientific reports.

Requirements
University degree within the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy or a similar area. Furthermore, you have documented experience of biomedicine, biostatistic analyses (preferably behavioral analyses) and writing scientific reports. You have good communication skills in English, both written and oral. We attach great importance to personal qualities, for example the ability to lead and manage projects and simultaneously be able to interact with other researchers. You are determined, structured and have the ability to work efficiently both by yourself and with others.

Additional qualifications
It is meritorious to hold a Master’s Degree. Background in pharmacology, programming, genetics, molecular biology and data analyses is also meritorious. Experience of writing research papers will be highly validated.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position for 4 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 2023-03-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
