Uppsala University, Department of Surgical Sciences

The Department of Surgical Sciences (IKV) is part of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy. IKV has about 160 employees and 200 registered doctoral (third cycle) students, the majority of which are clinically active doctors and nurses. The yearly turnover is SEK 152 million. Research is conducted at the department, as well as teaching in the first, second and third cycles. Teaching is, among other areas, conducted within the education programmes for doctors, nurses and specialty nurses. Research is conducted in research groups mostly organised according to surgical specialties and closely aligned subject areas, such as anaesthesia and intensive care and radiology. There are also preclinical research groups, which this particular position is within. A great deal of research is conducted in cooperation between separate research groups within IKV and other departments at Uppsala University, as well as other universities in Sweden and the rest of the world. Many of the department's employees have combined positions at the University Hospital.

The research group Functional farmacology and neuro science are now advertising the position as researcher in behavioural science! 

Duties
You will work and develop a project around biostatic data in Salve cohorts and the UK Biobank that relate to mental health, substance abuse and personal characteristics and relationships to other people. Work with scientific presentation of results and conclusions from studies and scientific articles. Great importance is placed on personal qualities, such as the ability to lead and drive a project and at the same time being able to interact with other researchers are important. The accused must be goal-oriented, structured yet able to work effectively both individually and in a group.

Qualifications
Eligible to be employed as a researcher is a person who has passed a PhD exam in the field of medicine and pharmacy or has a foreign exam deemed equivalent to a doctor's degree. We want you to have documented experience in biostatistics analysis, genetics, personality and addiction studies. Good oral and written skills in English.

Other valuable merits
It is valuable if you have a background in biostatistics, Mendelian randomization, genetics, molecular biology and data analysis. Experience in writing scientific articles is important merit.

About the empluyment
The employment is time limited for 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 st of March 2023 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
