Research assistant, focus on language data curation and cleanup

The Department of History of Science and Ideas is a dynamic research environment with strong profiles in history of science, intellectual history and history of medicine. It is Sweden’s largest centre for study within this field and is internationally renowned for its research. There are currently over forty academics, researchers and visiting scholars attached to the Department, including 15 doctoral students. The Department invites applications for research assistant position in an ongoing historical research project to support the computer-assisted methodology.

Duties/Project description
The tasks are linked to ongoing externally funded projects in medical history and digital humanities and primarily include post-processing, data entry and data management linked to the construction of a database of historical texts. Part of the position may be devoted to annotation and digitization of historical source material.

Requirements
Academic degree at least on a bachelor's level in a relevant field. Good language skills in Swedish and English are a prerequisite for employment. Good computer skills are required.

Additional qualifications
Language skills in German are an advantage. Interest in historical research and experience working with historical sources is an advantage. Experience in working with language data, proofreading and digitization is an advantage. Great emphasis will also be placed on the ability to work independently and personal suitability.

About the employment
The employment is a  temporary position, 5 months. Scope of employment 50 %. Starting date 01-10-2023 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
