Electrification and digitalisation are among the largest areas for the future in the conversion to sustainable societies. The Department of Electrical Engineering conducts successful research and education in the areas - renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, industrial IoT, 5G communication and wireless sensor networks as well as smart electronic sensors and medical systems. The Department of Electrical Engineering is an international workplace with around 130 employees that all contribute to important technical energy and health challenges at the Ångström Laboratory.
The position will be at the Division of Electricity, at the Department of Electrical Engineering. Here you will find a friendly work environment with a doctoral network and a variety of experimental projects. The Division of Electricity works in collaboration with Swedish companies - public and private - and stakeholders in the different fields of research. We look forward to receiving your application. Project description
The electrification of the transport sector is vital for a successful transition to a fossil-free society. A lack of capacity in the electric grid threatens to slow down the shift towards a more sustainable energy system.
The project aims to study how increased demand flexibility through smart charging can benefit the different actors involved. Moreover, it aims to investigate technical possibilities and challenges with smart charging by means of tests and analyses in real environment. The research team at Uppsala university will work in tight collaboration with the industrial partners of this project, including Volvo Cars and CEVT.
The project is financed by the Swedish Electromobility Centre (SEC), a national research centre for electromobility, founded by the Swedish Energy Agency in partnership with Swedish automotive industry and academia.
The research group at Uppsala University has extensive experience of research in electromobility and a large laboratory activity. We have an exciting work environment designed by the doctoral student and the research team together. The doctoral student will be supervised by at least two supervisors. The Department of Electrical Engineering also gives a salary supplement in addition to the local guidelines for doctoral students at Uppsala University.
