The Institute for Housing and Urban Research (IBF) is a multidisciplinary research institute with a focus on housing and urban issues. IBF belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University and conducts research, in a broad sense, directed towards housing, the built environment, and urban issues. The institute employs around 45 people, among which the majority are researchers and PhD students. IBF's goal is to produce interesting and relevant social research of the highest international quality within its thematic area. More information about the institute can be found at www.ibf.uu.se.
Human Geography housing and urban research at IBF has a strong focus on social issues such as power relations from an intersectional perspective (gender, social class, race/ethnicity) and we engage in different aspects of the workings of the housing market, including the drivers, dynamics and consequences of segregation, housing policy, financialization of housing, urban planning, spatial perspectives on social justice and the right to housing and to the city. We welcome a variety of methodological approaches, qualitative as well as quantitative. For the latter IBF provides excellent longitudinal and geo-coded micro data that offer possibilities for addressing a range of issues relating to urban and neighbourhood dynamics, including GIS-based analyses.
