Department of Electrical Engineering, Division of Solid State Electronics hereby declares a PhD position in the subject Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics.

The research aims at developing low noise electronic sensors for rapid antibiotic susceptibility tests. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with researchers in the Biomedical Centre (BMC) at Uppsala University.

Project description: Rapid antibiotic susceptibility tests are anxiously desired in modern clinic practices for quick selection of right drugs to treat infectious diseases in early stage. The research activities of the PhD candidate filling the announced opening will be centred around design, fabrication and characterisation of low noise electronic sensor for rapid antibiotic susceptibility tests. Device fabrication, electrical characterisation and antibiotic susceptibility tests will mainly be carried out using Ångström clean-room facilities as well as the state-of-the-art device characterisation laboratory of the Division of Solid-State Electronics. A major challenge is the noise mitigation of the electronic sensors.

Requirements: The main duties of doctoral students are to devote themselves to their research studies which includes participating in research projects and third cycle courses. The work duties can also include teaching and other departmental duties (no more than 20%).
