The Department of Information Technology has a leading position in research and education. The Department currently has about 280 employees, including 120 teachers and 110 PhD students. More than 4000 students study one or more courses at the department each year. More info: http://www.it.uu.se.

Duties/Project description: Optimization is a subject in Mathematics and Computer Science with a wide range of applications. In particular, developing and using optimization concepts and methods are of high relevance to resource management in complex and large-scale systems, such as communication and transportation networks. The overall objective of the project is to develop and apply mathematical optimization models and methods for resource and network optimization for the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks as well as for new systems beyond 5G.

The work will be carried out in the Division of Computing Science. The position is fully paid for a maximum of five years and includes departmental duties at a level of at most 20% (mainly teaching) as well as coursework. You will be expected to teach in English or Swedish.

Requirements: The candidate should have, or is expected to receive in a near future, a Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent, preferably with a strong background in optimization basics. The candidate is expected to be well-skilled with computer programming. Good knowledge of written and spoken English is a requirement for the position.

Additional qualifications: Experience with using optimization solvers is a plus.
