The group works with basic as well as translational and clinical research, especially focused on Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The main focus is to characterize and evaluate the role of epigenetic changes in acute leukemia using cutting-edge techniques with the aim to better understand the pathogenesis of the disease and to develop novel antileukemic treatments. We work in close collaboration with SciLife in Uppsala and at Karolinska Institute as well as with our national and international collaborators. We work actively with biobankning of patient samples and analysis of primary patient material. The group is currently running projects both in Uppsala and at Karolinska but this position will positioned at Uppsala. The group has a large national and international network.

Work environment: The research group is focused on translational research in acute leukemia with a special emphasis on epigenetics and novel drug development in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The project will be focused on novel drug development including building cellular leukemia model systems used for high-through-put screens, next generation sequencing and leukemic stem cells assays. Methods include a broad spectrum of molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, flowcytometry sorting, cell transfections, CRISPR-Cas9 techniques, ChiP-Seq, basic methods to detect RNA and protein expression, biobanking and handling of patient samples.

Qualifications: PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD is a requirement. The passed PhD should be within a relevant subject such as tumor biology, epigenetics, cancer genetics and/or epigenetics, research in hematological malignancies or similar. An emphasis will be given to scientific excellence within the field, cooperation skills and on the personal qualities such as initiative, good judgement, communications skills, ambition.

Additional qualifications: Desired technical skills (all are not compulsory) include experience with cell culture, flowcytometry cell sorting, CRISPR-Cas9, ChIP and basic molecular biology methods. Some degree of bioinformatic experience is also desired.
