The Department of Peace and Conflict Research is looking for a part-time teaching assistant for the project “The Politics of Protection” (Project leader Lisa Hultman).

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and approximately 1000 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit www.pcr.uu.se.

Duties
Duties for a teaching assistant can include teaching, administration or participation in research or artistic research. Within the project Politics of Protection, the RA will provide advanced research support to the project; primarily though data collection, data management, data analysis, visualization of data, literature reviews, and other research-related tasks. The position may also entail certain administrative tasks.

Requirements
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level.

The following qualifications are also needed for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies
  • Documented experience of systematic data collection
  • Good knowledge of UN peace operations
  • Basic skills in R
  • Documented ability to work independently
  • Very good English in speech and writing
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good ability to collaborate.

The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 20 %. Starting date 15 January 2024 or as agreed. Length of employment 5 months. Placement: Uppsala.
