Researcher position: Psychological and technical development for a remotely delivered psychological intervention after trauma. Psychological and technical development for a remotely delivered psychological intervention after trauma. The researcher will join the Holmes research group at the Department of Psychology, Uppsala University. We use experimental psychopathology to inform psychological treatment development, with a focus on the area of mental imagery and the clinical field of psychological trauma.

Duties: This is a 20% post as a researcher in an international team where lab studies are used to inform a remotely delivered psychological intervention after trauma. You will be a part of a team including clinical research psychologists with expertise in psychological trauma and your main role will be (subject to ongoing discussion with the PI):

  • Organize existing database of clinical intervention studies.
  • Apply insights from cognitive psychology to further advance the development of a model outlining how intrusive memories frequent an individual’s consciousness after trauma.
  • Analyze existing data using cognitive modeling and Bayesian statistics in order to generate hypotheses for future intervention studies.
  • Design experiments on basis of model predictions.
  • A minor part of the position may involve supervising students in the group.
  • Creating teaching materials for a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
  • Helping across team projects on intrusive memories that links insights from the data to improvements in the intervention
  • Help write grant proposals on basis of ongoing research
  • Supporting the PI in aspects of the team working on translational models in mental health science
  • Attending regular team meetings when needed

Qualifications and skills:  PhD in Psychology completed. Proven track record of experience in working with databases and model predictions, Bayesian statistics, and intrusive memories. Demonstrated interest in teaching and supervision experience. Proven track record of following best open science practices (e.g. preregistration, open data and materials). Good communication and problem-solving skills. Experience working creatively and flexibly with collaborators. Excellent time management skills.
