The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focusing on cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. A fundamental idea at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer interactions between medical research and health care. Research is presently organized in six research programs: Cancer Precision Medicine, Cancer Immunotherapy, Genomics and Neurobiology, Molecular Tools and Functional Genomics, Neuro-Oncology and Neurodegeneration and Vascular Biology. Departmental activities are also integrated with the units for Oncology, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Pathology, and Hospital Physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several education programs, including Master Programs, at the Faculty of Medicine. The department has a yearly turnover of around SEK 550 million, out of which about two thirds derive from external funding. IGP has approximately 400 employees, out of which 100 are PhD-students, and there are in total more than 850 affiliated staff members. Duties 
This work is carried out in the area of lymphatic vessel development and the successful candidate will need to carry out scientific projects, including the conceptualization, planning, execution, troubleshooting, and closure via manuscript preparation.
The work will be focused on:
- Zebrafish-specific techniques including:
- Husbandry and maintenance of lines.
- Generation of mutant lines using CRISPR technology, generation of reporter lines using BACs, and knock-in approaches
- Embryo microinjection, larvae angiography, and gavage
- Whole-mount immunostaining and in situ hybridization.
- Vascular phenotypic characterization of mutant phenotypes
- Cell lineage-tracing using multispectral color systems
- Clearing and immunostaining of juvenile specimens
- Ex-vivo imaging of adult tissues
- Molecular Biology techniques: DNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, RT-PCR analysis, protein isolation, Western Blot, and ELISA
- Cell culture: stem cell differentiation into endothelial cells, culture of primary cell lines: HUVECs, HDLECs, and HDBECs, culture of tumor cell lines. Plasmid transfection, siRNA knockdown
- Flow cytometry: cell dissociation, staining and analysis, cell-sorting in tubes and plates
- Imaging skills: Brightfield, Fluorescence, Confocal, Multi-photon (2-photon and 3-photon),
- Stellaris, Light-sheet Microscopy, and Automated systems (Acquifer)
- Data Imaging Analysis: Image J, Arivis, and IMARIS
- RNA sequencing: bulk RNA library preparation for MARSseq and SMARTseq2, preliminary data analysis. Single-cell data collection and work in collaboration with bioinformaticians for analyses.
- Data analysis: Prism, Graph Pad for statistical analysis
- Teaching: supervision of students in lab projects and sharing expertise with junior members of the team.
- Science communication: poster and oral presentation at international conferences, lab meetings, and departmental seminars.
- Scientific writing, peer review, and editor interaction.
- Organizational skills: project management, grant writing, and seminar/workshop organization.

Requirements 
- PhD in Developmental biology, Biotechnology or Biomedical Sciences.
- Experience in developmental biology and zebrafish lymphatic development.
- Holder of FELASA B animal license or equivalent licence for working with Animal in Sweden
- Personal soft skills: Motivated and enthusiastic, team-worker, detail-oriented, good communication skills

Additional qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with zebrafish
- Multiphoton and Light-sheet imaging.
- Experience with clearing tissue methods
- Project Managements skills
- Experience supervising students
