The department
The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and approximately 1000 students are enrolled every academic year. The department is now seeking a Research Administrator, for a permanent, full-time position (100 %), with a start date in March 2026. A probationary period will be applied.

Duties and Responsibilities
The role is an independent role, which means you take a lot of responsibility to move your work forward and to prioritise among tasks. At the same time you are part of our administrative team, with colleagues in finance, HR and teaching administration.

As a Research Administrator, you will lead the dissemination of the department’s research, education and outreach activities. Your work focuses on producing content that is clear, accessible and tailored to both internal and external audiences.

Key tasks include creating engaging content about the department and its activities, such as written materials, infographics, short-form videos and podcasts, and publishing these through web platforms, social media and relevant networks. You will be responsible for the department’s website, including publishing and editing content aimed at students, staff, and external stakeholders such as partners and end-users.

You will also work to improve the functionality and usability of the department’s internal and external websites in collaboration with system developers and central university functions. In close dialogue with department management, you will help develop a dissemination strategy and contribute to strengthening the department’s external profile.

The role involves close collaboration with researchers, teachers and administrative staff, including writing and editing texts in both English and Swedish. You will also participate in planning and delivering external events such as workshops, lectures and doctoral defenses.

Other administrative tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications/requirements for the position:

  • As the position is within a Swedish government authority and the working language at the department is English, excellent documented language and stylistic skills in both Swedish and English are required.
  • A university degree in social sciences or humanities.
  • At least one years of professional experience of independent and successful dissemination work of research and teaching
  • Documented academic excellence and ability to understand and engage with academic writing in English
  • Experience of popularising research and teaching
  • Experience of managing research projects in DiVA
  • Experience of planning and hosting public events and event photography 
  • Planning and developing information sharing within an organization, advising on and problem-solving AV- equipment
  • Experience from working with editing audio, images and video, and video capture, as well as hosting podcasts in English
  • A good understanding of the department’s core activities (teaching and research, within the area peace and conflict) and its interaction with the surrounding society, both national and international
  • Expert user of web publishing tool SiteVision, and experience of working with Adobe software such as InDesign, Premier pro, Audition and Lightroom.
