We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant for a newly established centre for women’s health (WHOLE).
The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health (KBH) at the Faculty of Medicine, Uppsala University, is an international and multi-professional department focused on health and welfare. A global health perspective is always present in our work, and we collaborate across professions and clinical areas in both education and research.
Research within WHOLE aims to improve care and management of women from a life-cycle perspective. The research aims at developing better diagnostics and treatment of mental health problems and pain in women in relation to the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause. The research is led by Professor Alkistis Skalkidou, and parts of the activities are integrated with clinical departments at Uppsala University Hospital. The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health also has teaching responsibilities in several programs and courses within the Faculty of Medicine.
Work Duties
You will collaborate closely with other researchers to deliver results across various projects and will have one or more supervisors for support. At the same time, you will work largely independently, for example by conducting literature searches, performing statistical analyses, and writing articles for scientific journals and other relevant texts.
In addition to your own research, we welcome your involvement in administrative tasks within WHOLE. These include coordination of clinical cohorts, planning and organizing meetings and ongoing studies, recruitment and screening of participants, data entry, and secure database management.
We also expect that part of your time will be devoted to science communication.
Qualifications
A completed advanced-level degree in psychology or neuropsychology.
In addition, we require:
Excellent oral and written proficiency in English. Experience in organizing and conducting experimental sessions with human participants, such as neurophysiological assessments or psychiatric interviews. Strong organizational skills, accuracy, ability to meet deadlines, and capacity to manage multiple parallel workflows.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, self-driven, and well-organized. You work well in a team and collaborate effectively with external partners, contributing to a positive work environment. Personal suitability will be given significant consideration.Merits
International experience in research and education is desirable. It is also an advantage if you have programming skills and experience with statistical analysis in R. Strong academic writing skills are highly valued. Experience or interest in science communication is an additional merit.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
