Postdoctoral position in Occupational Epidemiology

Are you interested in working with advanced statistical modelling of longitudinal occupational epidemiological data across several ongoing research projects, with the support of competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favourable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a postdoctoral position at Uppsala University.

The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences at Uppsala University conducts research and education in public health and caring sciences. The research is interdisciplinary and carried out in close collaboration with healthcare services, public authorities, and other societal stakeholders. The department is part of the Faculty of Medicine and constitutes a leading research environment in medicine, care, and health.

The research group Public Health, Working Life and Rehabilitation conducts occupational epidemiological research based on longitudinal cohort and register data to study how work-related exposures influence health, work ability, and labour market participation across the life course. The group has a particular focus on inclusion and inequality in working life, the psychosocial work environment, and rehabilitation in relation to long-term and complex health conditions.

We offer a flexible, trust-based work environment with strong opportunities for professional development, where independence, collaboration, and long-term sustainability in working life are highly valued.

Duties
The position includes advanced statistical analyses, methodological development, and work on scientific publications within several ongoing research projects.

Two of the projects focus on different groups in working life—one on young women and the other on cancer survivors—and are based on longitudinal data from the Swedish Longitudinal Occupational Survey of Health (SLOSH). The third project examines labour market establishment among individuals with ADHD and is based on national register data.

The statistical modelling includes, among other methods, group-based trajectory modelling, generalized estimating equations (GEE), and growth curve modelling. The work is conducted in close collaboration with project leaders and other researchers and offers strong opportunities for methodological specialization and independent scientific work.

Requirements
A PhD in a social science or medical discipline, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD in a social science or medical discipline.

The degree must have been completed by the time the employment decision is made. Preference will be given to candidates who obtained their PhD no more than three years prior to the application deadline. When calculating the three-year period, the reference point is the final application date. If special circumstances apply, the degree may have been awarded earlier. Special circumstances include, for example, leave due to illness, parental leave, or elected positions within trade union organisations.

Additional qualifications
Documented expertise in statistical modelling of longitudinal data, such as group-based trajectory modelling, generalized estimating equations (GEE), and/or growth curve modelling

Documented experience in occupational or working life research
