The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering consists of three divisions: Civil Engineering and Built Environment, Industrial Engineering and Management, and Quality Science. The department has approximately 100 employees and has its research and education both at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala and at Campus Gotland. For more information, see the web of the department. This position will be located at the division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment in Uppsala.

The Division Civil Engineering and Built Environment conducts research and education in the field of construction with a focus on energy in buildings and the built environment. We provide courses in building physics, building design, energy efficiency in buildings, energy systems for buildings and infrastructure systems. Around 20 people work with us and we have several successful collaborations with businesses and organizations. For more information, see the webpage of the division.

Duties
The advertised position is part of a larger research initiative on the introduction of energy communities in Sweden. The research will focus on possibilities and risks with the implementation of energy communities in the Swedish energy system context. The research is partly technical and partly interdisciplinary and thus includes researchers from several different disciplines (including engineers, political scientists and lawyers). In addition, some sub-projects in the research are in collaboration with the business community and include representatives of energy companies, the real estate sector and the logistics industry. The research includes energy system modeling, case studies, actor studies and organizational studies. Teaching in courses in energy systems may be included in the position.

Requirements
PhD degree in energy systems or equivalent, preferably with a focus on local heating and electricity supply and energy efficiency in buildings. Other requirements are experience in mathematical calculations and simulations and good knowledge of programming, e.g. in Python.

Additional qualifications
Experience as a postdoctoral fellow in a related field is meriting.

About the employment
The position is temporary for one year, full-time. Start date as soon as possible/according to agreement. Location: Uppsala
