Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences

The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences is a department within the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University. The department currently has about 200 employees, and an additional 150 researchers are affiliated with the department. The activities consist of 10 research groups, and education is conducted at all levels. 

Uppsala Health Economics (UHE) is a specialized unit of health economists, at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, at Uppsala University. Our team has expertise in applying health economic methods to health-related questions, including trial-based and model-based economic evaluations and using register data to evaluate the impact of health services on health and economic outcomes. Our health economists lead several projects across different fields including Mental Health, Child Health, Public Health, Precision Medicine and Innovation in Healthcare. Our approach is grounded in collaboration, working closely with clinicians to reach the best outcomes. We work with both national and international partners. engage in commissioned work for healthcare providers, municipalities, and independent foundations.

We are now recruiting a Teaching Assistant (10%) with a focus on practical support, administration, and logistics to strengthen UHE’s expanding activities.

 

Duties

Exempel på arbetsuppgifter:

  • Book and arrange travel and hotel reservations for team members and guests.
  • Prepare and issue course certificates and other documentation.
  • Complete forms for visiting staff and students, including ordering computers, access cards, and office keys.
  • Provide practical support for organising seminars, workshops, and meetings (room bookings, catering, printed materials).
  • Manage office logistics, including ordering desks, screens, and other equipment and arranging workspaces.
  • Assist with various practical tasks connected to team activities, events, and day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with the research administrator to ensure efficient administrative workflows.
  • Contribute to a well-functioning, service-oriented research environment.

Qualification Requirements

För behörighet krävs:

  • For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level. 
  • A relevant university education or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Documented experience in administration, coordination, service, or practical support work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and in a structured manner.

We are looking for someone who is service-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working in a research environment with varied tasks and rapid shifts. You collaborate well with others and contribute to a positive and professional work atmosphere.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience in university administration or support roles in research environments.
  • Experience with conference/event logistics.
  • Experience with procurement, receipt handling, or office coordination.
  • An interest in health economics, public health, or medical research.

About the Employment

The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 10%. Starting date 2026-01-01. Placement: Uppsala.
