Are you interested in mental health and eager to work in an international environment? We seek a highly motivated Research Assistant to join an interdisciplinary psychoneuroendocrinology team running frontier experimental studies on women. The position is placed at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, a multiprofessional department focusing on the health and well-being of women and children.
The role combines participant recruitment, clinical and psychometric assessments, neurophysiological recordings and neuroimaging measurements, venous blood sampling and basic biospecimen handling, data management, and day-to-day project coordination. This position will suit candidates with a strong interest in translational research and experience working with clinical populations.
Work duties
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of randomised controlled trials (RCT) and longitudinal studies examining women´s mental health: participant scheduling, liaison with clinical/research teams, and trial documentation.
- Recruit and screen participants from community sources.
- Planning, coordinating, and conducting multi-session study visits involving psychometric assessments, MRI examinations, and blood sampling.
- Conduct structured interviews and administer psychometric assessments.
- Supporting pharmacological treatment procedures, monitoring adherence, and managing participant contacts.
- Perform and assist with neurophysiological data acquisition (e.g. EEG), supervise and run magnetic resonance imaging scanning sessions (MRI), and ensure participant safety and comfort during scans.
- Collect venous blood samples, process/label and arrange storage/shipping to core lab according to Good Clinical Practice guidelines (GCP, training provided).
- Oversee data entry and secure database management (GCP compliant), maintain study files, assist with monitoring and audits.
- Contribute to study documents, ethics work, standard operating procedures, and team meetings.
Training and support
The successful candidate will receive comprehensive in-post training (MRI safety & procedures, EEG setup, phlebotomy supervision, GCP and relevant guidelines) and will work alongside experienced researchers and clinicians with opportunities for professional development. This position can also be a valuable foundation for future research careers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in Statistics, Bioengineering, Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Science, Medicine or related disciplines.
- Fluency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Responsible, team-playing, and solution-oriented attitude, together with independence and proactive engagement.
- Experience or willingness to gain practical experience running experimental sessions with human participants (neuroimaging, EEG, or psychophysiology) or screening and psychometric assessments.
- Experience or willingness to undertake venepuncture / phlebotomy (training available).
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to coordinate multiple workstreams (recruitment, data, appointments).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with clinical teams and vulnerable participants.
- Experience or willingness to gain competence with data entry (RedCap) and common analysis environments (e.g. SPSS/R), and familiarity with GDPR and data protection principles.
Desirable
- Previous experience with RCT, MRI, EEG or project coordination.
- Training in structured psychiatric interviews or prior clinical research experience.
- GCP certification, phlebotomy qualification, or experience developing data analysis pipelines.
- Doctoral degree
