The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students. The Department of Information Technology is situated in the newly built Ångström House 10, which contains a visualization studio, a social robot lab, a maker space and 3D printing workshop. Researchers work in all areas of IT, from designing processers, through HCI and cybersecurity, to cancer research tools and methods for numerical analysis and machine learning.
The research work takes place in a multidisciplinary team with a focus on image processing with applications in neuroradiology. The team is based at the Division Vi3 at the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University and with an international connection.
Duties
The research in the project is on developing and evaluating methods for detection and quantification in neuroradiology. An overall goal is to make advanced image processing methods available for treatment follow-up in neuroradiology. The position concerns research in the above-mentioned projects.
Requirements
PhD degree in Medical Image Processing or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in Medical Image Processing. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed their degree no more than three years before the deadline for applications. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
Additional qualifications
Experience in research and method development in image processing in neuroimaging is an advantage.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to central collective agreement. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date 16 February 2026 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
