Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences 

The Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences is an interdisciplinary environment where 10 research areas work to contribute to better medicines and a healthier world. With laboratories in the heart of Uppsala Biomedical Center and Sweden's only Faculty of Pharmacy, we are a vital engine in the development of education and research in the pharmaceutical sciences. Duties

Research and development for chemical hazard assessment using cheminformatics and artificial intelligence methods, including QSAR modeling. Contribution to data management best practices and development of AI Agents. Participation in MISTRA SafeChem Phase 2 project https://mistrasafechem.se/projekt/mistra-safechem.html.

Requirements

• Phd degree in data science, bioinformatics, cheminformatics or related field, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree in the specified field. The degree must be completed no later than the time of the employment decision. Preferably, the degree should have been obtained within the last three years. The starting point for calculating the three-year timeframe is the final application deadline.
• Experience in data science applied to life science problems.
• Experience in machine learning/artificial intelligence/multivariate methods including supervised and unsupervised methods.
• Experience with deep neural networks.
• Experience in cheminformatics.
• Good programming experience in Python with Git for version control.
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, as well as good documentation skills.

Additional qualifications

• Experience from working in virtualized environments, Kubernetes, GPUs and high performance computing resources.
• Prior experience from chemical safety assessment.
• Experience in toxicology.
• Experience from AI Agents

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of 2 years according to central collective agreement.  Full time position. Starting date 2025-12-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
