Project assistant in computer science: formally verified static analysis of floating-point computations - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Duties
The program analyzer Daisy is a state-of-the-art static analyzer for programs that contain floating-point computations. It can fully automatically and rigorously bound rounding errors due to finite precision. However, Daisy’s code itself is not verified. The task of this position is to verify parts of Daisy’s codebase with the help of the Stainless verifier. This includes the writing of formal specifications, modifying the code so that it can be verified and debugging unsuccessful verification attempts.

Requirements
Documented experience with the Scala programming language.

Additional qualifications
Experience with deductive program verification and static program analysis is a plus. The candidate must clearly document a high degree of self-motivation in the application. In addition, the applicant must be able to work well in a diverse group, be comfortable giving and receiving constructive criticism, and have strong abilities for critical thinking and structured work. Excellent skills in spoken and written English are required. We will also consider the fit for the project and the surrounding research environment.

About the employment
 The employment is a temporary position of 3 months. Scope of employment 20 %. Starting date 1 October 2025 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
