The Department of Game Design is part of the Faculty of History and Philosophy at Uppsala University. Its teaching and research alike are highly advanced. The Department has some 450 full-time students, roughly half of whom are from outside Sweden, and about 45 employees in various job categories. It offers teaching in game design and development at basic and advanced level, with graphics, project management and programming as subsidiary options. All education takes place in English.

Department of Game Design, is announcing 1–2 temporary positions as Teaching Assistant (20% of full-time) in Game Design.
The positions are intended to support the Game Design programmes and collaboration activities linked to Gotland Game Hub (GGH).
Duties
The position as Teaching Assistant includes teaching-related and administrative tasks within the Game Design programmes. Specifically, this involves responding to student inquiries, assisting in practical course components, and supporting the assessment of student submissions. Administrative tasks include forwarding student questions, assisting with the processing of course evaluations, and helping manage student assignments.
Work within Gotland Game Hub entails serving as a central point of contact for students, teachers, researchers, collaboration partners, and external stakeholders interested in games. The role includes supporting game-related activities, planning and conducting lectures, workshops, and events, as well as facilitating collaboration. The aim is to strengthen the hub’s role as a dynamic meeting place for learning, creativity, and cooperation.
Other duties may also be assigned.
Requirements
To be eligible for appointment as a Teaching Assistant, you must be admitted to undergraduate or advanced level studies. Applicants must be enrolled in one of the Game Design programmes at Uppsala University – Campus Gotland, at a minimum of Bachelor's level.
You should have a good understanding of the structure and pedagogical approach of the Game Design programmes.
Good computer skills and proficiency in English, both spoken and written, are required.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as being proactive and having good collaboration skills. You must be able to work independently and complete tasks within given timeframes.
Additional qualifications
Experience in administrative work, planning, and collaboration. Strong communication skills and the ability to create inclusive environments.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 20%. Starting date 1 October 2025 or as agreed until 31 December 2025.
