The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, with 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students. The work has to be performed at the Information Laboratory (InfoLab), Department of Information technology. At the Uppsala University Information Laboratory (UU-Infolab) we do basic and applied research on the extraction of knowledge from social data. We develop models, methods, methodologies, and software to analyse multilayer, temporal, textual, visual, and probabilistic information networks, that we use to capture complex aspects of contemporary social data, such as heterogenity, velocity, unstructuredness, and uncertainty. Our applications include the analysis of online political communication and the study of online disinformation.

Duties
The job consists in developing a method for the extraction of visual narratives from social media data and apply it to data collected as part of our projects on online visual politics.

Requirements
The applicant must have a Master's degree, good linguistic competences, programming proficiency, and experience in social media data analysis.

Additional qualifications
Knowledge of natural language processing and computational narrative analysis is meriting.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 2 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 15/07/2025 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
