The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students. The project Digital healthcare technologies in disability care facilities: Bridging practical implementation and care practices is a collaborative project between the university and a care provider company, financed by VFS. It focuses on the ethical and effective use of digital technologies in care settings, specifically for people with disabilities. The project aims to get and share knowledge and experiences with Japanese healthcare experts, and to prepare for a new collaboration project between universities and care companies in Sweden and Japan.

Duties

  • Coordination of collaborative research events and initiatives with care providing companies within the Swedish care sector (e.g., workshops, seminars, knowledge exchange meetings).
  • Leading and participating independently in research activities, including conducting surveys, preparing manuscripts for journal and conference submissions, drafting application for the Ethical Review Authority, and contributing to applications for future research funding.
  • Facilitating collaborative research endeavors with Japanese researchers, including the planning and execution of joint publications and research-related events.
  • Development and maintenance of a research network within Japan relevant to the project.
  • Writing necessary reports, and working with the administration tasks of the project.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant research area for the project.
  • Experience in the coordination of international collaborative research projects, specifically between Sweden and Japan.
  • Experience in fostering research collaborations with care facility companies in Sweden.
  • Demonstrated research skills and a publication record in areas related to the project's focus and to the area of Information and Computer Ethics.

Additional qualifications

  • Good social skills, good teamwork skills and the ability to take your own initiative.
  • Ability to understand, speak and write Japanese.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 4 months. Scope of employment 50%. Starting date 2025-09-01. Placement: Uppsala.
