The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students. Duties
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a critical component across many industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, the automotive industry, and more. Due to its critical role, IoT networks are constantly targeted by attacks. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are essential components of an effective IoT cybersecurity strategy, and machine learning plays a crucial role in intrusion detection by learning from past and simulated attacks.
The role involves further development of our simulation environment in Cooja to support ongoing research related to intrusion detection systems. The focus is on developing and implementing new IoT attack scenarios, generating data for training AI models for intrusion detection, and restructuring the codebase.
The position is 50% for 3 months, with a possible extension.
Requirements
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level. Experience with development environments for IoT (such as Cooja), network security, and AI for intrusion detection is also required.
Additional qualifications
We expect independence and a structured approach to work, along with strong problem-solving skills.
