The advertised doctoral position is linked to the research group Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics

Duties

Research and development for chemical hazard assessment using cheminformatics and artificial intelligence methods, including QSAR modeling. Confidence prediction with conformal and probabilistic prediction methods. Development of tools and systems. Participation in MISTRA SafeChem Phase 2 project and regular interactions with project partners in pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

In addition to their own research, teaching and administrative duties at the department may also be included.

Qualifications
A suitable background for the position is a degree from Master´s/Science in Engineering. Data Science, or an equivalent education (at least 240 ECTS credits), great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, motivation, and a genuine interest in research within the field of Bioinformatics and Cheminformatics.

The applicant should have a good ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.

The applicant should have solid experience in cheminformatics, and AI methods including deep learning. Good skills in Data Science and Python programming is required. Prior experience in application/web development is meriting.

Information about postgraduate studies, including eligibility requirements and admission rules, can be found at Doctoral studies - Uppsala University Selection of candidates is made by the supervisors in consultation with the department's group for postgraduate studies. The PhD student will be formally accepted by the Research Training Committee at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy and salary placement is done according to local guidelines at Uppsala University. The holder of a PhD-student position shall primarily devote her or his time to own research studies. Other departmental work, such as educational or administrative duties, can be part of the position (max 20%).
