Research assistant position in sustainable management of waterbodies

The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is Sweden´s largest and most versatile department of its kind with approximately 280 employees. The research assistant position is located in Uppsala within the research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (NRHU), Department of Earth Sciences. The research of the Natural Resources and Sustainable Development Programme focuses on the different dimensions of sustainable development. We consider the environment and its natural resources and ecosystem services as an overarching foundation for society and economy and aim at providing knowledge on how to utilize natural resources in a sustainable way. Our work involves considerations of both natural and social systems and their interactions, often adopting transdisciplinary approaches.

The position is part of the FORMAS-funded projects PUDDLE JUMP (Promoting Upstream-Downstream Directed Linkages in the Environment: “Joined-Up” Management Perspectives). 

Duties
The research assistant will help with the work with the project by; searching and synthesising relevant literature; helping in organisation of project meetings; help with a research survey; practical help in organisational and administrative tasks; and communication activities. The assistant will also take part in overall activities within the project and support the researchers in the wide range of tasks.

Requirements
The applicant shall have a bachelor in social, political, environmental or sustainability sciences or any other relevant for the PUDDLE-JUMP project as well as research interests relevant to the PUDDLE JUMP project. Good skills in oral and written English are important prerequisite.

Additional qualifications
Skills in project management and knowledge in natural resources management are an advantage.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 6 months. Scope of employment 50 %. Starting date 1 June 2025, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
