The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and120 PhD students. Are you interested in education and being part of an academic work environment? Do you want experience in working at a university? The Department of Information Technology is looking for 20% teaching assistants (TAs) for the academic year of 2025/2026.
20% TAs are teaching assistants hired for a whole academic year. As a 20%-teaching assistant you are the department’s employee and part of the department's operations. You get an insight into the University and get to be a part of the daily work at one of the departments divisions. You will participate in the teaching and administration of selected programs and courses at the department and in the activities organized at your division. As a 20%-TA you have access to staff space and office space, and you also get to take part in the university's many employment benefits, such as healthcare benefits and paid vacation days.
Duties
Participation in teaching in courses at the Department of Information Technology. Participation in teaching means, for example, participation in labs and tutorials/lessons, grading of assignments, answering students' questions, supervision of student projects or course evaluations.
Requirements
Employment as a student assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as student assistants (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must show good study results, especially in the area of the course the applicant will help with, as well as very good English communication skills, both spoken and written.
Additional qualifications
Previous experience from participating in teaching in courses at university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization. Good Swedish communication skills, both spoken and written (only for courses taught in Swedish).

The application should include a letter in which the applicant briefly describes his/her experience in teaching, language and knowledge (e.g., study certificate). Please also describe and justify why you are interested in the position. The application may also include information on the courses that the applicant prefers to teach. About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment: 20 %. Starting date: 18 August 2025 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
