Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Sciences

Centre for Health Economic Research at Uppsala University is seeking to hire 1-2 high quality candidates for a Postdoctoral position in health economics with placement at the Department of Medical Sciences

Centre for Health Economic Research at Uppsala University is an interdisciplinary center aimed at research contributing to an efficient provision of health care resources and to improved health in the population. For example, developing methods for evaluating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of medical and health care interventions in routine care, and to increase the understanding for why the effectiveness in clinical practice may differ from the efficacy found in controlled experiments; developing reimbursement models and pricing systems for health care and pharmaceutical drugs to meet new challenges generated by novel types of medical innovations or demand for new types of evidence; understanding sources for inequalities in health and access to health care, and how the organization and resource constraints in the health care system affect the quality of health care provision. The center is a collaboration between the Disciplinary Domain for Medicine and Pharmacy and the Faculty of Social Sciences building on a cross-disciplinary perspective to combine different competences. The research capitalizes on complementary competences, a shared perspective on experimental and quasi-experimental research designs and a joint experience in using large registry data.

The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical department with approximately 250 employees and over 900 affiliated individuals through Uppsala University Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a variety of fields. Research is conducted in close collaboration with the clinical activities at the University Hospital and encompasses both studies on the causes of disease and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. More information about the department's activities is available at https://www.uu.se/en/department/medical-sciences
