Learn more at www.ieg.uu.se. We are now looking for a Research Assistant in Evolutionary Ecology to the program Animal Ecology.

Project description
We are using collared and pied flycatchers as a model to study various question related to ecology and evolution since 1980 and have gathered long-term data on breeding performance, phenotypic traits and blood samples. These samples are being used in a wide range of research projects including projects on mate choice and sexual selection, life-history evolution, processes on aging, adaptation to climate change and speciation.

Duties
The Research Assistant will be responsible for up-dating the systems used for organizing blood and tissue samples, performing DNA extractions and data management.

Qualifications required
Master degree or a foreign equivalent degree in biology or similar field. Previous experience of some type of field work (i.e. sample collection) and laboratory work such as DNA extractions are necessary for the position.

We attach great importance to personal qualities such as being well organized and structured at work. Candidates must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken as well as written English and/or Swedish.

Qualifications desired
Previous experience of fieldwork on birds are desirable but not mandatory.

About the employment
The position is a temporal 12-month position. Scope of employment: full time, 100%. Starting date as soon as possible or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
