Tasks: The project will involve physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling as a translational approach to predict pulmonary delivery of antibiotics, followed by simulating drug effects based on established pharmacodynamic models in the literature. A pulmonary PBPK model to describe physiological and anatomical lung will be used, and semi-mechanistic PKPD models that describe relationships between concentration-effect in vitro and/or in vivo will be used.

Qualifications: The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical, medical, engineering/natural science or a related field. Applicants must have documented experience of pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics or pharmacometrics.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability as well as motivation and interest in improving antibiotic development. The applicant must be able to express him/herself well, both orally and in writing, in English. Applicants must be able to work independently and in a group.

Merit: Pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling and/or simulation. Studies in a master’s program in pharmaceutical modeling or drug discovery and development, or corresponding program. Interest in, and skill in, scientific writing is highly desirable.
