We are now looking for a research assistant to the program Plant Ecology and Evolution.

Project description
The research assistant is going to work in a project examining ecological and genetic mechanisms governing local adaptation in plants.  

Duties
Preparation, establishment, and data collection in large-scale experiments with plants in the field and in the greenhouse. Duties include, among other things, sowing of seeds on sterile agar and planting, controlled crosses, DNA-extraction and quantification, microscopy, recording of flowering phenology, leaf characters, survival and reproduction of study plants, data compilation, and method development.

Qualifications required
Master degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a master degree in plant ecology. Experience of independent work with establishment and data collection in field- and greenhouse-experiments examining ecological and genetic mechanisms behind local adaptation in plants. Experience of demographic studies of orchids. Driver’s licence.

We attach great importance to personal qualities such as excellent ability to work independently as well as in a group, meticulous, and very good organizational skills. Candidates must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken as well as written English and/or Swedish.

About the employment
The position is fixed-term until 2025-09-14. Scope of employment: full-time. Starting date as soon as possible, as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
