Teaching assistant

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and120 PhD students. We welcome you to apply for a research assistant position at the Cyber-physical systems Lab, Uppsala University. 

Duties
The teaching assistant is expected to participate in the design, development, and optimization of robotic hardware systems, including sensors, actuators, and power management modules; contribute to the preparation of technical documents related to hardware and software in the lab, such as design proposals, test reports, and user manuals; and stay updated on cutting-edge robotics technologies, propose improvements, and participate in technical innovation. Duties include robot collaboration implementation and participation in research.

Requirements
Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as research assistants (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must show good study results, especially in the area of the research work the applicant will help with, as well as very good English communication skills, both spoken and written.

• Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields;
• Experience in robotics or embedded system development, familiarity with hardware platforms such as Arduino, Jetson, and Raspberry Pi.
  
  

Additional qualifications

• Knowledge of basic logic circuits, operational amplifiers, motor drivers, voltage regulation circuits, and other hardware selection and design:
• Experience in ROS-based robotic system development is preferred;
• Familiarity with common actuators and sensors;
• Passion for robotics, experience and participation in competitions is a plus;
• Familiarity with technical documentation skills.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, for three months, according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 50 % Starting date 15 April 2025or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
