Research assistant Earth System Governance Project IPO

The Department of Earth Sciences is Sweden"s largest and most diverse department of its kind, with a unique breadth and circa 280 employees. Our activities are transdisciplinary, combining natural sciences and engineering with social sciences. Our research programs include Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, Atmospheric and Water Sciences and Geophysics. By studying issues related to environment and society, we aim to understand how climate change and biodiversity loss can be addressed to promote sustainable development. Within the department's research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, the Climate Change Leadership Unit (CCL) explores strategies to cope with various environmental problems. The research is transdisciplinary and addresses natural and social systems, as well as their interactions at the science-policy interface. CCL has recently assumed responsibility for the International Project Office (IPO) of the global Earth System Governance Project (ESGP).
Duties
The Research assistant is placed at the EPO and plays a vital supporting role in the ESG network, working closely with colleagues at the IPO and with groups within the worldwide network. The tasks include supporting various network activities with administrative operations and subject-matter expertise; maintaining communication among network members and groups; analysing, documenting and presenting activities in popular science formats; initiating networking in new areas and parts of the world; supporting the network leadership with science-based perspectives in assessing proposals and applications; and arranging activities, seminars, and various meetings.
Requirements
Master of Science in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or similar. Documented very good proficiency in English (oral and written). Documented experience in environmental communication. Ability to work independently, meticulously, and with a results-oriented approach. Strong computer skills and good collaboration abilities.
Additional qualifications
Experience working with environmental issues in an academic setting. Experience working with research networks or equivalent. Strong initiative and constructive problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Swedish is an advantage.
About the employment
The employment is a permanent position (probationary period 6 months will be applied). Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 15 April 2025, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
