The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is Sweden´s largest and most versatile department of its kind with approximately 280 employees. Our activities are interdisciplinary and combine natural science and technology with social science. Within the department's research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, the Climate Change Leadership Unit (CCL) explores strategies to cope with various environmental problems. The research is transdisciplinary and addresses natural and social systems, as well as their interactions at the science-policy interface. CCL has recently assumed responsibility for the International Project Office (IPO) of the global Earth System Governance Project (ESGP).
Duties
The Project coordinator is placed at the IPO and plays a central role in managing and developing ESG-network activities in close collaboration with colleagues at the IPO and with various groups within the network worldwide. The tasks include planning, organizing, and carrying out ongoing project coordination; preparing the annual ESG conference and other meetings; administering office operations, documentation, and correspondence via website and email; supporting the leadership of ESGP; and communicating with network members and other stakeholders.
Requirements
The applicant must have a Master degree in a subject relevant to the position, for example in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Political Science, Media and Communication Studies or similar, as well as documented experience in project management, administration in an academic setting, external collaboration, and communication, including web publishing and computer skills. Documented very good proficiency in English (oral and written).
Additional qualifications
A doctoral degree in a relevant field is advantageous. The role involves managing and completing tasks within specific timeframes, making strong initiative and constructive problem-solving skills advantageous. Good international collaboration abilities, strong organizational skills, and a results-oriented approach are considered advantageous. Experience with university administrative systems is advantageous. Proficiency in Swedish is also advantageous.
About the employment
The employment is a permanent position (probationary period 6 months will be applied). Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 15 April 2025, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
