Are you interested in working with experimental physics, with the support of competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favorable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a PhD position in physics at Uppsala University.
The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over nine divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 100 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for
The Division of Materials Physics within the Department of Physics and Astronomy investigates advanced materials for applications in, among others, coating technology, fusion technology, smart windows, hydrogen storage, and nanoelectronics. The division also coordinates activities at two national research infrastructures: the neutron scattering instrument SuperADAM and the ion beam facility Tandem Laboratory.
At the Tandem Laboratory, transnational access is offered for ion beam analysis and ion beam modification of materials using three available instruments: a 5 MV Pelletron accelerator, a 350 kV high-current implanter, and a facility for low-energy ion scattering. Also collaboration with and commissioned research for industry is performed at the facility.
Uppsala University hereby announces a researcher position at the Department of Physics and Astronomy open for applications.
The project will focus on user support at the Tandem Laboratory, particularly in ion beam analysis. The development of relevant measurement methods will be part of the tasks.
Duties
The project is focused on experimental studies as well as data analysis and management:
Requirements
The holder of a position as researcher must have a PhD degree in physics, engineering or equivalent. Experience using ion beams with keV or MeV ion energies in fundamental and applied research is mandatory. Well-documented research experience using ion beams and handling ion beam instrumentation for material research, fundamental studies or materials modifications is expected. A good fundamental understanding of ion-solid interaction is advantageous. It is expected that the successful candidate has the personal capabilities necessary to fully carry out the duties of the appointment.
The employment as a researcher is limited to 1 year.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
