Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favourable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a Postdoctoral position in health economics at Uppsala University.

The Child Health and Parenting (CHAP) research group, Department of Public Health and Health Care Sciences at Uppsala University, Sweden, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the assessment of child and adolescent mental health. The position offers the opportunity for development in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment and is an excellent opportunity to further develop research skills and prepare for a career in academia, government or clinical research.

Description of the projects

  1. The research group is part of a consortium working on a project that aims to increase knowledge about how language abilities and the ability to successfully participate in social interactions affect children's well-being and mental health. To achieve this, we will explore the use of social robots as new tools to measure children's well-being and mental health in a teaching environment. This will be done with a particular focus on vulnerable groups who are potential targets for preventive interventions. Our research group will lead a workstream focused on refugee children.
  2. The research group has been commissioned to evaluate the feasibility of a trauma support group with adolescents being placed in out-of-home care combined with parenting strategies designed to enhance the placement carers’ capacity to support the adolescents.

For both projects, we require a person who can coordinate the research under the leadership of the responsible researcher.

Duties

You will be responsible for project coordination under the guidance of the responsible researcher. Ethical application, participant recruitment, data collection and contact with organizations where data collection is conducted are part of the work. You will also be expected to participate in data analysis and the writing of scientific articles within the framework of the projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in psychology
  • PhD with a focus on public mental health

The language requirements include very good knowledge of Swedish, as data collection and analysis are conducted in Swedish for both studies. Very good knowledge of English is also an absolute requirement, as the language of the research group and the project group is English and we publish internationally.

Previous scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals is a requirement. We would like to see that you have conducted applied research with children and adolescents. You must have good interpersonal skills, as the project requires regular interaction with the team, clients and staff, and children and young people. You should also be able to work independently and be prepared to supervise Master's level students.

Additional qualifications

Previous documented experience working with refugee children and/or children in out-of-home care is meritorious.
