Research assistant in Theoretical Materials Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 270 employees and has a turnover of 300 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. Subject description
The project includes the implementation of a new neural network architecture in atomistic machine learning. Atomistic machine learning has been very successful in predicting the physicochemical properties of materials and approximating potential energy surfaces. This project will follow our recent initiative to develop open-source PiNN (https://github.com/Teoroo-CMC/PiNN/).

Duties
The position includes assisting the research in the above-mentioned project. The tasks include  include literature study, scientific programming, simulations, and analysis of results. It also includes communication of scientific results through reports and presentations. The results are expected to be summarized in scientific publications.

Requirements
Applicants must have

• Master's degree in computational science or theoretical chemistry.
• The applicant must have very good knowledge of scientific programming (Python and C++).
• The applicant must have good knowledge of electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamic simulations.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, until 31 October 2025. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date 1 April 2025 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
