The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University provides a broad international environment for research and teaching. Duties

Main tasks are research on molecular mechanisms in the field of mast cell biology. The work includes various methods to study the function of the mast cell. Among other things, different in vivo techniques are included in the work. In addition, the work will include various techniques for culturing mast cells, as well as a range of various biochemical and immunological analysis methods such as quantitative real-time PCR, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, mast cell activation, western blot analysis, cell migration and genotyping.

Qualification requirements

Doctoral degree in a relevant subject area. Documented experience with in vivo techniques including genotyping, as well as experience in immunology. Experience of working with biochemical and cell biology techniques such as cell culture, quantitative real-time PCR, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and Western blot analysis. The applicant should have a genuine interest in research. Since the first candidate will be involved in several projects, good organizational skills and flexibility is required. Candidates must be able to work independently and take own initiatives, but also be able to collaborate with other members of the group and with external partners. Very good oral and written English skills are a requirement. We emphasize the importance of personal suitability where we see good communication skills, collaboration skills, a sense of service and an ability to independently solve problems as important qualities.

About the employment

The employment is a temporary position for a period of one year with possibility of extension. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
