We are now looking for a researcher to the program Plant Ecology and Evolution.

Project description
The project involves the ongoing synthesis of a long-term dataset of tropical forest dynamics from Puerto Rico. In particular, the successful applicant will work to finalize the cleaning and harmonization field data from a series of plot censuses, and use that information to address fundamental questions regarding how tropical forest dynamics respond to various sources of environmental heterogeneity.

Duties
Conduct innovative research in tropical forest ecology, generate manuscripts suitable for publication peer-review journals, actively participate in the intellectual atmosphere in the research group and department.

Qualifications required
Ph.D. degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctoral degree in a relevant field. The candidate will have prior experience working and publishing on trait-based ecology of tropical forests, as well as synthesizing large datasets for quantitative analyses in R. We attach great importance to personal qualities such as strong ability to communicate and work well in a team environment.The candidate must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken as well as written English.

Qualifications desired
Prior experience with statistical analyses involving demographic vital rates and trait-based community ecology is highly advantageous.  Strong background in tropical forest ecology, both from theoretical and practical perspectives, is extremely important.

About the employment
The position is fixed-term between 2025-05-01-2025-09-30. Scope of employment: 50%. Start date 2025-05-01 or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
