2 Teaching assistants - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and approximately 1000 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit www.pcr.uu.se.

The Department and the project “The Politics of Protection” (project leader Lisa Hultman), is looking for two part-time teaching assistants (20% each) for 5 months, starting in January 2025.

Tasks
Duties for a teaching assistant can include teaching, administration or participation in research or artistic research. Within the project Politics of Protection, the assistants will provide advanced research support to the project; primarily though data collection, data management, data analysis, visualization of data, literature reviews, and other research-related tasks. The project focuses on international interventions, like peacekeeping and sanctions, and how they are used in situations of violence against civilians. The positions may also entail certain administrative tasks.

Required qualifications
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level. The following qualifications are also needed for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies or equivalent
• An expressed interest in international interventions and violence against civilians
• Basic skills in R
• Documented ability to work independently
• Very good English in speech and writing
• Good analytical skills
• Good ability to collaborate.
