The Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University has an interdisciplinary environment at the center of the pharmaceutical arena. With frontline research, first-rate education and extensive collaborations we constitute an important driving force in the development of our academic field. IFF has approximately 150 employees and a revenue of nearly 160 million SEK. In this inspiring environment our rich diversity of research groups, several of international prominence, develop and conduct work of great scientific importance. Among our core competences are computational modelling and simulations, PKPD, in vitro ADME models, advanced in vivo methods, development of biological medicines, as well as patient and societal aspects, from optimizing the use of drugs in individuals to societal pharmaceutical policies. Together, we form a unique cluster of academic competences within pharmaceutical science, playing a key role in shaping the future of pharmacy in both Sweden and globally.
Our scientific focus areas in selection: Biologics, Pharmacometrics • Pharmacodynamics • Pharmacokinetics • Biologics • Clinical Pharmacy • Drug Delivery • Molecular Pharmaceutics • Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology • Pharmacoeconomics • Pharmacoepidemiology • Pharmacotherapy • Social Pharmacy

Duties: The project will involve establishing pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships for antibiotics and/or cancer treatments, via pharmacometric methods. The developed models aim to characterize exposure-response relationships of value for dose optimization. We expect that the project will lead to new advances in predictive and quantitative methods for the characterization of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in infection and/or oncology.
Qualifications: Eligible to be employed as a postdoc is someone who has completed a doctoral degree (PhD) in pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics/pharmacometrics or a related field or has a foreign degree that is considered equivalent to a doctoral degree in the specified fields.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and motivation to improve model-based methods for the development of therapies against cancer and/or infections. The applicant must be able to express him/herself well, both orally and in writing, in English.
Merits: Pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation of drug therapies. Interest in, and skill in, scientific writing is highly desirable, as is experience in collaborating in international networks.
