Uppsala University, Department of Government

The Department of Government belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University and has about 120 teachers, researchers, doctoral students, and administrative staff. Its activities consist mainly of teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and in postgraduate education. In addition, the department conducts extensive research at national and international levels.

Responsibilities: The work will be carried out within the research project “Enabling climate-resilient development” (funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation) led by Daniel Nohrstedt and Charles Parker, and within the Center for Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS) at Uppsala University. The position will assist with data collection for several studies, but mainly to identify countries' climate actions and experiences of natural disasters.  

The main tasks include collection, coding, and processing of public documents, mainly from the United Nations. A significant part of the work involves organizing information already collected. However, the tasks also include supplementing the material by searching for and obtaining additional documents. The work is carried out independently and in collaboration with other project participants.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in political science or equivalent. The work requires accuracy, independence, good analytical skills and very good knowledge of English. Experience of data collection and analysis related to the project's research area is a requirement. Proven knowledge of quantitative analysis in Stata and/or R and Excel.
