The department has education assignments in engineering programs and master's programs. More information is available on our website. (https://kemi.uu.se/angstrom/?languageId=1).

Duties

The main tasks involve the organic synthesis of aromatic structures, such as tetracene and pentacene. Primarily, the goal is to produce dimers and oligomers of these, as well as derivatives with functional groups that can be used for further derivatization of macromolecules. Some spectroscopy is also expected, such as absorbance and fluorescence measurements, both steady-state and time-resolved.

Requirements

The position requires:

  • A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in the synthesis of aromatic structures, especially acene derivatives
  • Solid experience in absorbance and fluorescence spectroscopy of organic molecules, particularly with TCSPC (Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting) technique
  • Experience in evaluating molecules and materials for singlet fission
  • Proficiency in expressing oneself in English, both spoken and written

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

Additional qualifications

It is particularly advantageous if the applicant has experience in preparing and characterizing singlet fission materials. Experience in photocatalysis is also considered a merit.
