The department of Cell and Molecular Biology (ICM) is divided into seven research programs with specializations in the following areas: Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biophysics, Molecular Evolution, Molecular Systems Biology and Structure Biology. The position is available in the research group of Prof. Anthony Forster (https://www.uu.se/en/department/cell-and-molecular-biology/research/molecular-biology/forster-lab) at the program of Molecular Biology. The research in Forster ́s group is in the general areas of protein synthesis and synthetic biology. This project, funded by Vinnova, aims to make enzymes dependent on small molecules towards the goal of producing safer live vaccines. 

Duties
The project includes subcloning, over-expression, purification and mutagenesis of RNAs and enzymes. Small molecules will then be chosen and screened for activity against the enzymes. This may be facilitated by structural modeling. 

Requirements
We seek a highly motivated person with a PhD in molecular biology or a related subject area.  The successful candidate should have experience with all of the above-mentioned duties. They should have strong collaborative skills but also be able to work independently. High requirements on research quality and ethics, including quality and reproducibility of data and analyses, are central for all work in the group. As this is an international group, the ability to communicate in English is essential.
